Part of the Mirafiori industrial complex, the former Officina 83 (Workshop 83) now makes the skills and expertise of the same team that takes care of the FCA Heritage collection available to private owners. Their services range from simple maintenance – including all the activities performed on racing models before they go to the racetrack – to thorough restoration.
One particular service Officine Classiche offers is the “Certification of Authenticity”, where the team of experts at FCA Heritage consults company archives to retrieve and analyze the production details and technical specifications of a car, in order to guarantee its authenticity.
For the reopening, Angelini Design was entrusted with designing a new setup with environmental graphics that shift away from the previous focus on the Abarth Classiche brand and better align with the FCA Heritage identity. The project encompassed the entire space: from the entrance on Via Plava to the areas where restoration activities are carried out, all the way to the section dedicated to final delivery to the client. The goal was to create a unique customer experience, with an immersion in the great cultural, historical and industrial heritage of the brand. Indeed, now visitors can appreciate firsthand the new life of FCA Heritage’s services and their impressive results, as the brand strengthens its identity in the same physical space where activities take place.
The new setup is meant to highlight the link between the Officine’s history and the present, which is a running theme that ties the specific features of the building to the contemporary nature of FCA Heritage’s brand and corporate identity. With imagery provided by technical drawings and vintage photographs – capturing the manufacturing process of historical models in the legendary Mirafiori plant – the workshop now tells the story of how the project’s soul and mission began.
A powerful statement, “Heritage is about the future”, represents the close connection between future opportunities and the brand’s cultural heritage, while a set of vertical, colorful stripes have been added to the graphics to extend and complete le logo. The palette framing the setup brings to life the four hues paired to the historical brands, subtly celebrating the heritage of the new Officine.
With the relationship between past and present at its core, the new setup adds to the dialog between graphic format and the brand’s minimalistic and contemporary identity, treading in the footsteps of the Mirafiori Motor Village design.
